Having the Lac Maggiore and the mountains of the Swiss Alps as background landscape, the project unfolds mountain above in an abstract geometric composition. Obeying to the minimalist taste of the client, the intervention is characterized by well-defined volumes: a set of austere masses that both merges with the mountain as breaks with it, alternating its relationship with the surrounding environment through a set of terraces and patios that opens up over the landscape. The house is materialized in three different levels, in a vertical stairs game that unite the ground floor of the garage (directly related to the street), the middle floor (where are located the social areas) and the upper floor (that ‘levitates’ over the landscape and where are located the intimate areas). The upper terrace is assumed as an articulation point to the steep terrain and the woods and includes the pool, a mirror of the posterior landscape. F House thus achieves an almost sculptural effect, a kind of abstract mass that has been encrusted in the mountain.
