A family home has to be seen as a space capable of responding and adapting to the different needs/wants of those who inhabit it, through a “game” of balance. If at certain times there is a predisposition for a “party”, at other times it is necessary to take a break, in a moment of contemplation and rest – the “temple”.
The proposal is based on the autonomy of the programs that make up the house, allowing its organization in 3 different moments (social, private and external), articulated through an interstice, apparently superfluous, but fundamental for the project’s balance.
The interstice assumes itself as the center of the house and makes the connection between the different programs. It is a space of ambiguity, of crossing and, at the same time, of permanence, and which is directly related to the exterior spaces. It intends to be “a creative place of love”.
The social space of the house is located in the pre-existing volume on two different but complementary levels. If on the first level a formal social space is proposed, on the ground floor is suggested a multipurpose space that can be used as a garage or as an informal space for events that is directly related to the outside.
The intimate program of the house is divided into two opposing volumes, connected through the interstice. To the west are located the two master suites, while on the opposite side, to the east, there is a volume with two floors, which can be autonomous to receive guests and contains a dormitory and two suites.
The space designated for the Japanese bath seeks to be a therapeutic “temple”, punctuated by a green patio that appeals to introspection.
