The Seixas house appears as the first priority of the program, with the objective of recovering it to function as the headquarters of the Ventura Terra Association, museum and social areas, inserted in a global project that allows the self-sustainability of all the actions to be developed and for that purpose it can resort to the use of annex buildings that generate income and involve the community.

Starting with the intentions presented by AVT and CM de Caminha, with which we generally agreed, we tried to look at the presented program in order to establish synergies that allow the maximum to be obtained with the minimum.

The project was based on the idea of ​​maintaining the protagonism of the existing house, despite the fact that the exercise of a new dependence type tower house being tempting. The option was to value the house not only as a memory, but also as a central point, the hinge of the entire project.

For this, and given the scope of the new program, we based the intervention on the idea of ​​defragmenting the apparent volume in order to be easily surrounded by the vegetation. The set is thus defined by 3 distinct constructions that are interconnected to the surface and underground in different ways. In other words, the 3 large functional groups can function as a single building or completely separate. To these constructions is added one more, independent, where the outdoor swimming pool, technical areas and pool support with changing rooms are located.

HOME | SOCIAL

The house as an eminently social space, nucleus of the ensemble that allows the knowledge of the man and the work in a dynamic and lively way, for the gatherings, for the architecture and fine arts exhibitions, for the excellence of the art library and the history of architecture that in a first phase may refer to the time of Miguel Ventura Terra, his influences and what his work influenced.

ACCOMMODATION | INTIMATE

Functioning as local accommodation, placed on the western portion of the land, so that it can have, if necessary, some degree of autonomy in relation to the activities carried out by AVT, either in the house or in the multifunctional dependence.

MULTIFUNCTION SPACE | WORK WORKSHOP

In this new construction of contemporary architectural expression, it will be possible to continue the exhibition strategy followed in the main house, but of a temporary nature, with contents related to contemporary architecture, other artistic expressions, training, also thinking about the possibility of being, alongside housing, another source for autonomous funding.

Overall, it is intended to have ample, multipurpose spaces, with storage areas that allow this flexibility of spaces to be supported. The program works in physical connection, through stairs, with the existing house sharing valences such as the kitchen, which can support events.
