Two houses next to each other share a common landscape, but for different experiences and typologies.

The larger house, for use by the owners, reveals the affection for the place. The ruin of the existing house is preserved as something precious and intimate. The new construction will surround this ruin, as if protecting it. Inside the house, coexistence with the ruin becomes permanent, a constant reminder of the idyllic appeal of the place.

In the smaller house, for shared use, a less familiar character of the whole, of collective memory, is revealed. The ruin becomes part of the “mise en scène” of the exterior landscape and the interior is released into a more neutral environment.

Together they create a relationship of dialogue and balance between the public and the intimate, the interior and the exterior landscape, promoting different experiences.
